Game On with Game Day Men’s [PRODUCT REVIEW]

In Men's Style by Keith Luter, Jr

logoAs I was browsing Twitter a few weeks ago I ran across @GameDayMens, a high-end skincare brand designed specifically for athletes (active men), exclusively blended with the finest ingredients. Being my usual self, I began my normal sleuthing and checked out their website, social media pages, those they follow and their followers, etc. After all that hard work I decided I must review this product!

Now 1 month later, don’t ask, I have taken the time to write this overdue review. Sorry for the wait Demetri.

“By using our products your skin will look and feel healthier and smoother.” – Game Day Men’s

The Game Day website has instructions on how to properly use the product but being a stubborn “I know how this works” male I decided to just go for it. And no, nothing bad happened. Well, maybe.

showergel_justbottle_largeShower Gel: Body & Facial Cleanser powerful enough to give a deep clean to your skin and cleanse your body but also gentle enough for all skin types to use on their face. Dispense a small amount of cleanser into wet hands, washcloth, or shower sponge.  Work into lather.  Apply to skin, rinse, and enjoy.

I used quite a bit just because I enjoyed the smell, don’t judge you’ve done it before. It was maybe the size of a Susan B. Anthony coin. (All those born after 1985 don’t worry I’ve Googled it for you, click here.) After washing my hair, face and body, I was quite impressed at how clean and non-bodywash slimy my skin I felt. You know that feeling after using a bodywash that makes you want to use soap afterwards to wash off the slime coating? No, just me then.

I will say, after drying off it felt as though an ocean breeze was blowing on my nether regions as I moved around that day. Only a man can appreciate that statement, it was awesome.

preshavebottleonly_largePre-Shave: Invigorating Scrub an essential step in preparing the skin for the smoothest shave possible as it scrubs away dead skin, stands whiskers up and frees ingrown hairs. Apply small amount to clean, wet skin. Gently buff for 1-2 minutes and rinse. After rinsing, proceed to apply shaving cream and shave.

I did follow majority of this step until it came to shaving. I chose to not use a shaving cream or my normal Truefitt & Hill (love that stuff) and just shave with a wet face. I didn’t want to interrupt the Game Day Experience and see its true results. Game Day didn’t let me down and it was one of the cleanest shaves I’ve ever had. Yes, I said it.

aftershave_justbottle_largeAftershave: Soothing Balm an essential step in the shaving process for skin strength and health. After shaving, dispense three pumps into the palm of your hand and smooth across both palms before applying to face.  Smooth onto face to restore healthy skin. It also hydrates and firms the skin while repairing nicks and cuts.

I appreciated that the balm wasn’t oily or a lotion. It went on smoothly and left me feeling invigorated. I was also able to breathe better because of the ingredients. Is this stuff approved to help with allergies and sinus? That’s a question I’ll have to ask Demetri later.

I must confess that I use the soothing balm daily, shave or not. It helps wake me up and provides a cooling sensation during these Texas summer days.

justbottlemoisturizer_largeMoisturizer: Hydrator + SPF 30 an essential step before going to work to hydrate the skin while simultaneously providing essential SPF 30 protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Apply 1- 2 pumps to clean skin. SPF 30 protection is needed if you spend your day outside or indoors.

I won’t lie being a male of African descent I am not a big SPF user. I don’t fancy moisturizer either since I have oily skin. However, wanting to have the full Game Day experience I used as instructed. I massaged the moisturizer in until it was absorbed on my face and front and back of my neck all while enjoying the fresh scent.

After a week of using all of the products I realized, well my gorgeous wife pointed it out to me, that 1) my skin wasn’t oily as it normally is, 2) my friends said my skin looked amazing and asked what I was doing differently, 3) my co-workers asked if I had changed my haircut (they see me 5 days a week; yes I decided to shave today), and 4) my acne and dark spots were beginning to smooth out and clear up. To each query I simply replied “Game Day.” A little inside joke between the wife and I.

Men, this is a product I will definitely have for my closest male friends for the holidays. Click here, scroll down and read the “Why Game Day” section and you will understand and want to do the same for your friends. I mean we all need a wing man, right?! (Disclaimer: If you are married or engaged to be married I do not endorse, promote, grin, smile or chuckle at you having a wing man. Single men only! This statement is of my own and is not to be considered an endorsement of FashionMingle.net).

Ladies if you love your man or at least want him to smell better (question; why are you still with him if he smells bad? Unless you are married of course and that will be filed under the ‘for worse’ section of your vows) you need to go to the Game Day Men’s website and at least buy him the bodywash. If you decide to purchase one of the sets, give him one item at a time. You know how men like to think we decided to use a product. That way, if he says he likes it tell him you’ll order something else even though you already have it. Men, play along and act accordingly and just say, “OK babe. You’re the best!” knowing she already has the full product line hidden somewhere in the bathroom and go on with your day.
